Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman (Akhtar) has completed his graduation in Medical Physics in 2009 from the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering of Gono Bishwabidyalay (University), Dhaka. In the same year, he got the opportunity to start his professional career as a faculty member of medical physics at the same university because of his academic excellence. Later on, he moved to Ahsania Mission Cancer and General Hospital, Dhaka to enrich his professional skills in Radiation Oncology Physics and to work directly with the patients suffering from a deadly disease called cancer.

Dr Akhtaruzzaman is currently working as Head of Medical Physics at the Labaid Cancer Hospital with his dedication and sincerity since November 2018. However, in the meantime, he has been awarded as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Physics from the Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology, Warsaw, Poland.

Dr Akhtaruzzaman is an enthusiastic young man having deep sense of responsibility and very active in his works. He has a clear vision and good understanding in all aspects of Radiation Oncology Physics including Dosimetry, Treatment Planning and fundamental of Quality Assurance (QA). Besides of his own discipline, he is also capable of handling problematic issues in other disciplines strongly and intelligently. Furthermore, medical physics education, quality radiotherapy treatment and better radiological diagnosis for a more effective medical physics community is still in a developing phase. Bangladesh Medical Physics Society (BMPS) is trying to uplift the situation incessantly. Dr Akhtaruzzaman, is currently contributing to BMPS as General Secretary and always actively work for any conference or workshop organized by BMPS. He is also a member of the Science Committee of the Asia-Oceania Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (AFOMP).
